Conference Goals
This conference aims to explore everyday aesthetics through an intercultural lens, focusing on how ordinary experiences, practices, and environments acquire aesthetic meaning in different cultural contexts. Drawing on non-Western traditions such as Zen Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Islamic cultures, the conference will consider how the aesthetics of everyday life challenges Euro-American models centered on art, and how it can open new avenues for a truly global aesthetics.
Contributions are invited on themes such as culturally shaped routines, the role of atmosphere, the relationship between aesthetics and identity (including postcolonial contexts), aesthetic resilience, hybridization, and the influence of media and technology on everyday life.
This initiative marks a significant step in the growing international recognition of everyday aesthetics as a field worthy of dedicated scholarly attention.
